Rachel Zoe builds nursery for office employees

LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) — Rachel Zoe’s employees’ lives just got a little bit easier. They no longer need to choose between motherhood and a career. The fashion maven built a nursery adjacent to her office in West Hollywood so that new mothers get a chance to spend more time with their children.

Zoe is mother of two boys, Skyler Morrison, 4, and Kaiuis Jagger, 1, with husband Roger Berman and knows what it’s like to balance being a businesswoman and a mother.

In a post featured on The Zoe Report titled, Why Opening an Office Nursery was Rachel Zoe’s Best Decision Ever, the boss revealed why she decided to provide a child-caring facility for her staff.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to grow my company from just a few people to more than 40 while having my kids (and my husband) by my side, and so I knew I had to do everything in my power to give my staff that same luxury,” she wrote.

Zoe opened the doors to her office nursery in December 2014 and urged other businesses to follow suit. Although she admits it was an investment, she says what the business gets in return from the appreciative mothers is “invaluable.”

“Seeing how motivated and committed the mothers on my team were after returning from maternity leave and being able to set up their babies in the nursery has only solidified my belief that every company should consider this option,” she continued, “The working mothers at our company can improve and grow our business without having to sacrifice spending precious time with their babies at such a crucial stage in their mother-child relationships.”

The designer ended the post with a bit of advice for working women: “Never apologize for being dedicated to your kids and challenge those around you to not only acknowledge, but celebrate your ability to be a mother and an asset in the workplace.”
