WASHINGTON, Nov. 28 (UPI) — Ray Rice, the former Baltimore Ravens superstar running back, has won an appeal against his indefinite suspension from the NFL.
The ruling means Rice is eligible to sign a contract to play in the NFL.

Rice’s suspension came in the wake of two videos released to the public. In the first, Rice was seen dragging his unconscious then-fiancée, Janay Palmer, out of a hotel elevator. The NFL’s lax response to that video was widely criticized and Rice was indefinitely suspended after a second video — this one showing Rice punching Janay twice in that same elevator — was released.
Rice took to the federal justice system to appeal his suspension. His testimony, as well as that of Ravens General Manager Ozzie Newsome and now-wife Janay, was enough to convince U.S. District Judge Barbara S. Jones to lift the suspension.
