LOS ANGELES, March 24 (UPI) — Ray Stevenson is to play the iconic pirate Blackbeard on the high-seas adventure series Black Sails, Starz announced Tuesday.
Season 3 is currently in production in South Africa. A teaser for the new season will air on the network following Saturday’s Season 2 finale.
“Black Sails follows the most feared pirate of the day, Captain Flint [played by Toby Stephens,] and his men, and takes place 20 years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Treasure Island,” a synopsis said.
Stevenson is best known for his work in TV’s Rome and Dexter, as well as in the films Divergent, Insurgent, Thor, The Book of Eli and Kill the Irishman.
