LOS ANGELES, Oct. 15 (UPI) — Mission Impossible’s breakout star Rebecca Ferguson is in talks to star opposite Michael Fassbender in the crime-drama The Snowman.
Set to be directed by Tomas Alfredson, (Tinker Tailor Solider Spy) the film will revolve around detective Harry Hole, played by Fassbender, as he investigates the disappearance of a woman whose pink scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman according to Variety.
The Snowman is an adaptation of the Jo Nesbo novel of the same name. The crime author has written 10 books starring Hole as a loose cannon detective in the Oslo police force. Working Title Films, who optioned the book, may be interested in bringing the other novels to the big screen as well.
Martin Scorsese will be executive producing along with Nesbo and Working Title producers Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Piodor Gustafsson.
Coming off the box-office success of Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Ferguson has been in high-demand in Hollywood as she decides between multiple film projects to star in. The actress is in the mix for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus sequel which will go into production next year and is also scheduled to appear in Florence Foster Jenkins with Meryl Streep.
In August, the 31-year-old Swedish star signed on to join Emily Blunt in the upcoming adaptation of the Paula Hawkins novel, The Girl on the Train.
