AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 4 (UPI) — Carmaker Jeep and parts supplier Mopar will unveil a Red Rock Jeep Wrangler concept car at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association trade show in Las Vegas.
The trade show began Tuesday and runs through Friday. It is expected to bring 140,000 visitors to the city as 2,400 exhibitors from the $36 billion auto parts industry show off their latest products.
The concept is an homage to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers club, which since 1967 has hosted an annual event called the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah.
The concept features brown leather seats with silver stitching and a “Red Rock” logo, as well as a two-inch aftermarket lift kit, 35-inch all-terrain tires and a unique exterior commemorating the 50th anniversary of Red Rock’s Safari.
The vehicle is based on a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Hard Rock. Its Dana 44 solid front and rear axles will be complemented by a Rock-Trac transfer case.
Additionally, the concept features an electric dome vented hood, high-quality off-road rock rails and front and rear tow hooks, colored red. The vehicle’s 73-to-1 crawl ratio allows it to scale difficult climbs and obstacles.
Jeep head Mike Manley said the company is “extremely grateful to the Red Rock 4-Wheelers for continuing this iconic Jeep event.” Manley also said the company’s flagship Wrangler “is the most accessorized vehicle” the company sells, since 100 percent of Wrangler drivers purchase and install at least one aftermarket part.
Jeep’s other vehicles include the Cherokee, Compass, Patriot, Renegade, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler Unlimited.
Mopar, established in 1937 with the development of anti-freeze solution, has worked with Jeep since 2002 to deliver several vehicle concepts to enthusiasts at the Easter Jeep Safari.
