MONTREAL, Oct. 7 (UPI) — Actor Randy Quaid has been arrested in Montreal for the second time this year by Canada Border Services Agency agents, according to reports.
CBC News first reported on the arrest that took place Tuesday morning after the Vacation star arrived for his required routine check-in stemming from his first 2015 arrest.
Immigration and Refugee Board officials have not stated the reason for his latest arrest. The actor’s wife, Evi, told CBC the arrest was a surprise and was not explained to either of them. On Thursday, the actor will attend a hearing with the Immigration and Refugee Board.
The couple fled to Canada in 2010 after claiming that they were targeted in a plot to kill Hollywood stars.
Quaid was first arrested in April following an investigation by the CBSA. He was later released on bond and pleaded with Canadian officials in court to allow him to stay with his wife.
“At this point, I desire nothing more than to fully co-operate with any restrictions or conditions,” Quaid told the court at the time. “As long as I could be with my wife, even if that means going back to the States to reapply for permanent residency status in Canada.”
