Report: Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo “not amused” by confrontation with team president

MADRID, Nov. 4 (UPI) — Before Real Madrid edged Paris Saint-Germain Tuesday 1-0 in the Champions League, team president Florentino Perez awkwardly confronted Cristiano Ronaldo.

The confrontation regarded comments Ronaldo made in “Kicker,” a German magazine, about a departure from the team, according to Eurosport.

During the exchange, Real Madrid walks past Perez, before Ronaldo is stopped. Perez looks at Ronaldo and tells him: “We need to talk. What did you say? We have to talk,” according to Eurosport.

Ronaldo responds: “What did I say?” The Portuguese star later said: “I didn’t say that. I didn’t say that. I said something else.”

Perez then gives Ronaldo a light-hearted slap on the face.

In his interview with “Kicker,” Ronaldo said: “Leaving Madrid? Why not?” he told Kicker, as part of promotional work for his upcoming documentary film ‘Ronaldo’.

“For now, I’m at Real Madrid, but you never know. You have to do what makes you happy, no-one knows what will happen tomorrow.”

Ronaldo, who turns 31 in February, has a contract expiring in 2018. Ronaldo has 18 goals and two assists in 14 appearances this year.
