Report: Victoria’s Secret model Yfke Sturm wakes up from medically-induced coma

NAPLES, Italy, Sept. 8 (UPI) — Victoria’s Secret model Yfke Sturm has woken up from a medically-induced coma, according to reports from local papers in Italy.

Sturm, 33, was taken to the Rizzoli hospital on the island of Ischia after fracturing her skull and a number of her vertebrae from falling off a jetsurf – a motorized surfboard. She was then taken to a specialist clinic in Naples, where she induced into a coma according to People magazine.

The accident involved another jet surf rider who accidentally crashed into Sturm while she was attempting to swim to safety.

Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported on Thursday that the model had come out of her coma and was showing signs of improvement. However, this conflicts with other reports that claim Sturm still remains in critical condition and is fighting for her life.

Back in July, the Dutch model gave birth to a new son, Alexander.

Besides modeling for Victoria’s Secret, Sturm has also worked for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs, Chanel and hosted Holland’s Next Top Model.
