Republican frontrunner Donald Trump reports for jury duty in Manhattan

NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) — Donald Trump, the frontrunner Republican in the 2016 presidential election, reported for jury duty on Monday at New York City’s State Supreme Court building in lower Manhattan.

Trump, who has been a controversial candidate for the Republican nomination, spent the weekend in the Midwest. At the Iowa State Fair, Trump allowed some people to take free rides on his private helicopter, known as the “Trumpcopter.” Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton also attended the event.

Over the weekend, Trump said he was happy to take a break from the campaign to perform his civic duty.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Trump said. ” I think it’s fun.”

Trump has already paid a $250 fine this year for skipping jury duty since 2006. He should not be called for jury duty for another six years.

The real estate mogul and reality television star continues to lead the polls for the 2016 election for the Republican nomination. Trump leads with about 22 percent in polls, whereas the second-place former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has about 10 percent, according to averages by RealClearPolitics.
