HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 28 (UPI) — Singer Rihanna is the latest addition to the growing cast of Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.
Besson announced via Instagram Wednesday that the “BBHMM” singer and actress has a significant role in the upcoming sci-fi flick. “I’m Sooo excited!!!!” the Lucy director wrote. Besson has not announced Rihanna’s role.
The singer joins actress and model Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spiderman 2), and Clive Owen (Closer) in the new project described by Besson as his “biggest challege.” The film adapts the graphic novel by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres set in the 28th century, at the onset of the discovery of time travel.
Rihanna has appeared on the big screen in Battleship and played as a voice actor in movies such as Home. She recently announced her highly anticipated eighth studio album, Anti, and its cover art, but has yet to announce a release date.
