Los Angeles (AFP) – Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has a broken bone in his back and could miss between six and 10 weeks of the season, the US media reported.

Romo suffered the injury during Thursday’s National Football League exhibition game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Romo underwent an MRI exam on Friday, which showed the break. The Dallas Morning News reported that Romo suffered a broken vertebra in his lower back.

The 36-year-old Romo has undergone multiple back procedures in the past, including two in 2013.

Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott is expected to start the season opener against the New York Giants on September 11.
