Rooney Mara to star in pop music drama 'Vox Lux'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22 (UPI) — Rooney Mara has signed on to star in the upcoming pop music drama Vox Lux, set to feature original music from Sia.

According to Variety, the actress will portray pop star Celeste during her 15-year rise to superstardom starting in 1999. Shifts in culture that happened throughout the time-frame will also be explored.

Directed by Brady Corbet following his Venice film festival award winner The Childhood of a Leader, Vox Lux is set to begin production in February 2017 and will be shot using 65mm large format film.

Kodak is said to be partnering with the production on marketing.

The film’s soundtrack will feature all original songs written by Sia. The singer recently contributed two songs to upcoming animated film My Little Pony: The Movie and previously had music featured in Netflix’s animated series Beat Bugs, where she covered The Beatles.

Mara will next be seen in The Weinstein Co.’s drama Lion which also stars Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman.
