Royals’ Chris Young hasn’t allowed a hit through 6 vs. Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kansas City Royals right-hander Chris Young has not allowed a hit through six innings of his start against the Minnesota Twins.

The 6-foot-10 right-hander has walked three hitters. But he’s needed only 73 pitches to get through six as he looks to equal San Francisco’s Chris Heston, who no-hit the Mets on Tuesday.

Young also has two strikeouts as the Royals have taken a 1-0 lead on an RBI-single from Mike Moustakas in the first inning.

Young was the American League Comeback Player of the Year last season for the Seattle Mariners. He had surgery in 2013 to correct a nerve ailment that gave him pain in his shoulders and neck and came back to go 12-9 with a 3.65 ERA for the Mariners last year.

He signed a one-year deal with the Royals before this season.
