Russian Air Force gets additional fighters and bombers

MOSCOW, July 20 (UPI) — The Russian Air Force has received additional fighter and bomber aircraft from Sukhoi, part of Russia’s United Aircraft Corp.

The SU-35S fighters and SU-34 bombers were delivered in batches late last week, the company said, but the exact number of aircraft in each batch was not disclosed.

The modernized Su-35S is a multi-role “4++” generation fighter with enhanced flight characteristics and avionics than analog fighters. NATO has designated the aircraft as the Flanker-E.

The twin-engine fighter has a speed at altitude of 1,490 miles per hour, a service ceiling of 59,100 feet and a maximum range of more than 1,900 miles. It can be armed with rockets, missiles and bombs, as well as a 30mm cannon.

Su-34 frontline bomber delivered, with a new weapon system and aerial refueling system, has an increased range of about 2,500 miles, a speed of 1,180 mph and can carry an eight ton payload.
