MOSCOW (AP) — Russian President Vladimir Putin says Greece’s prime minister has not asked for any financial aid during a visit to Moscow.

Putin was talking at a news conference after talks with Alexis Tsipras in the Kremlin on Wednesday.

Greece, which has been dependent on international bailouts for years, will run out of funds within weeks unless it reaches a deal with its creditors for a new installment.

There was speculation ahead of Tsipras’ visit that Greece could use the Moscow trip as a way to gain bargaining power with its creditors, which include fellow eurozone states and the International Monetary Fund.
