ATLANTA, Dec. 2 (UPI) — After 10 years, Cartoon Network’s cult-classic animated series, Samurai Jack will return in 2016.
The network made the announcement Wednesday with a short five-second teaser that featured silhouettes of main character Jack and his arch nemesis, the evil wizard Aku.
Samurai Jack will be making its comeback on Cartoon Network’s late night block of programming, Adult Swim, and will be helmed once again by acclaimed animator Genndy Tartakovsky most known for his work on Dexter’s Laboratory and most recently Hotel Transylvania.
The series originally debuted in 2001 and aired for 52 episodes before it was cancelled in 2004. Samurai Jack followed the adventures of Jack as he fought his way back through time after being transported into a future where Aku had ruled the earth for centuries. The new series will allegedly wrap up the story that was never properly concluded before its cancellation.
