'Secret Life of Pets' tops the North American box office with $103.2 million

LOS ANGELES, July 10 (UPI) — The Secret Life of Pets is the new No. 1 movie in North America, earning $103.2 million in receipts this weekend, BoxOfficeMojo.com announced Sunday.

Featuring the voice talents of Louis C.K., Kevin Hart, Eric Stonestreet and Jenny Slate, the animated movie sank Finding Dory, which previously topped the chart for three consecutive weeks.

Coming in at No. 2 is The Legend of Tarzan with $20.6 million, followed by Finding Dory at No. 3 with $20.4 million, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates at No. 4 with $16.6 million and The Purge: Election Year at No. 5 with $11.7 million.

Rounding out the top tier are Central Intelligence at No. 6 with $8.1 million, Independence Day: Resurgence at No. 7 with $7.7 million, The BFG at No. 8 with $7.6 million, The Shallows at No. 9 with $4.8 million and Sultan at No. 10 with $2.2 million.
