MOSCOW, Nov. 12 (UPI) — Two Russian television channels accidentally broadcast classified military information regarding nuclear submarine torpedoes.
Video footage from a meeting Monday in Sochi between Russian President Vladimir Putin and military officials included a uniformed person looking at a confidential document.
The document showed drawings and information about the “Status 6″ weapons system under development by Rubin, a St. Petersburg submarine construction company. The phrase “zones of extensive radioactive contamination, making them unsuitable for military or economic activity for long period,” as well as drawings of submarines, could clearly be seen on the document by any viewer of state-controlled NDN and Channel One, which broadcast the segment Tuesday.
“It’s true some secret data got into the shot, therefore it was subsequently deleted. In [the] future we will undoubtedly take preventive measures so this does not happen again,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said.
