LONDON, Sept. 25 (UPI) — Selena Gomez discussed her past romance with Nick Jonas on Capital FM this week.
The 23-year-old American singer opened up about the singer-turned actor in an interview with the U.K. radio station scheduled to air Sunday. Gomez and Jonas were just 16 years old when they dated for several months in 2008.
“We were babies,” she laughingly recalled. “We actually caught up the other day, and it’s really fun to be able to do that. That, to me, was like puppy love. It was very sweet … He’s lovely. I do have a love for him, for sure.”
Gomez and Jonas sparked rumors they had rekindled their relationship after they were spotted whispering to each other at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in August. The singer insisted they are just friends, and explained the conversation to Clevver News.
“We were talking about the event for a little bit because I didn’t see him there, and I told him I liked his performance,” she revealed. “Then I said ‘Hi’ to Joe [Jonas]. We grew up together. It’s so nice to be able to see people and talk about life.”
Gomez went on to date Canadian pop star Justin Bieber for several years, and was seeing DJ Zedd in the spring. The singer released a music video for her new single, “Same Old Love,” this week, and will debut her second studio album, Revival, on Oct. 9.
