Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition begins

SEOUL, Oct. 19 (UPI) — The Seoul Aerospace and Defense Exhibition is set to begin on Tuesday, and will feature almost 400 defense, security, and aerospace firms.

361 exhibitors attended the event in 2013, the last time the Seoul Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) was held. 100,000 trade visitors arrived to the site according to the organization running the event, set to be open until Sunday.

Exhibitions will be held at Seoul Airport, and will feature indoor exhibitions, flight demonstrations, and outdoor exhibitions.

This year, 150 U.S. military service members from the Air Force and the Army will participate, using U.S. aircraft for demonstrations according to Defense News. Aircraft to be used include the KC-135 aerial tanker and the F-16 combat jet.

In attendance will be representatives of global defense giants. Hanwha is preparing to showcase a range of products in addition to reconnaissance and unmanned aircraft.

“The Seoul ADEX 2015 will be an opportunity for Hanwha to showcase its leading capability in the Korean defense market, as the company is increasing the synergy effect through the acquisition of former Samsung affiliated defense firms,” said Hanwha president Lee Tae-jong

Lockheed Martin will display mock-up products of the F-35 joint strike fighter and Terminal High Altitude Air Defense system.
