WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 (UPI) — Colombian musician and actress Shakira has gotten a digital makeover in the form of a blonde-haired Angry Bird.
The songstress — full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll — announced her partnership with the new Angry Birds Pop puzzle game Thursday, sharing her playable character, Shakira Bird, via Instagram. “From today, Shakira Bird is a special guest in @angrybirdsofficial POP!!” the singer wrote in English and Spanish.
The newest addition to the Angry Birds clan — created by Finnish developer Rovio Entertainment — appears not only in the Pop game, but also the franchise’s upcoming games Angry Birds Friends and Angry Birds 2.
According to a statement by Rovio, Shakira’s partnership with the company stemmed from a meeting earlier this year in Barcelona.
“Just like everybody at Rovio loves games, Shakira loves music,” the company’s marketing manager Peter Vesterbacka said. “Within five minutes it was very clear we had to do something together.”
Angry Birds Pop is now available for download in the App Store and Google Play.
