BOSTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) — Director Paul Feig announced on Twitter Friday that actress Sigourney Weaver would be making an appearance in the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.
Weaver, who appeared in the original two films as Dana Barrett, joins original cast members Bill Murray, Dan Akyroyd and Erine Hudson who will also appear in cameo roles.
The film recently wrapped up production in Boston.
“Gang, trying to keep suprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!,” tweeted Feig.
The forthcoming female-led reboot stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
Murray, after being asked to join the film told Vulture earlier this month, “You know, they were incredibly nice to ask me, and I really enjoyed being there,” “They have such a jolly group, and they are going to have great success with this project. I didn’t want to overshadow [them] or anything, and I feel good about it.”
Ghostbusters opens in theaters July 22, 2016.
