NECOLA, Alaska, Nov. 10 (UPI) — Teton Gravity Research released video of professional skier Ian McIntosh surviving a 1,600-foot fall from the Necola mountains in Alaska.
The fall took place while the 24-year-old was filming footage for the upcoming winter extreme sports film Paradise Waits.
The video, uploaded to YouTube, shows McIntosh tumbling down the mountainside for over a minute.
In a blog post, McIntosh said some quick thinking helped him walk away from the fall relatively unharmed.
“I pulled my airbag to help prevent against any possible trauma injuries as I tumbled to the bottom,” he said.
Teton Gravity Research co-founder Todd Jones described the fall as “the most terrifying crash I’ve ever seen.”
