SNL’s Pete Davidson credits Kid Cudi’s music for saving his life: ‘I would’ve killed myself’

NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) — Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson has admitted that he would have committed suicide at a younger age if it wasn’t for Kid Cudi’s music.

“Cudi’s the best of all. He saved my life. I would’ve killed myself if I didn’t have Kid Cudi,” the comedian explained Tuesday to hosts Angela Yee, DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God on 105.1’s radio show The Breakfast Club.

“I would’ve killed myself. Absolutely, 100 percent. I truly believe if Man on the Moon didn’t come out, I wouldn’t be here,” he continued about Cudi’s 2009 debut album.

Recently, Cudi announced on social media that he had checked himself into rehab for “depression and suicidal urges” telling his fans, “I am not at peace,” something that Davidson acknowledged.

“It’s kind of comforting to know your hero goes through the same stuff you do. I think that’s why a lot of kids my age can relate to Cudi and people love him so much is because he’s a very emotional dude,” Davidson said before noting how he plans on visiting Cudi soon.

“I texted with him last Monday, and he’s in really good spirits. I think I might go see him next week. But he’s in a good place.”
