LOS ANGELES, May 20 (UPI) — Long-time soap opera star Deidre Hall marked her 40th anniversary on the show Days of Our Lives by getting her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday.

Hall received the 2,581st star on the walk, with fellow Days stars Susan Seaforth Hayes and Josh Taylor to help celebrate.

Hall, who got her start in TV in the late 1960s, first appeared on the long-running soap in June, 1976 and except for a few years off here and there, she’s played psychiatrist Dr. Marlena Evans ever since.

With plot lines that included her character being kidnapped, in a coma, battling an evil twin, and even being possessed by the devil, Hall has played her character in just about any predicament.

“She’s easy to play for me because I know her so well,” she told Variety. “She is completely accepting, which is a comfortable place to be: to love everybody all the time.”

And despite having to learn sometimes 30 pages of dialogue in a day, she still loves the job.

“It’s the hardest job there is because of the pace,” she said. “But those of us who work at this pace think, ‘If I did film, I’d shoot myself! I can’t read that many magazines.’ We thrive on it.”

Hall has also written three books, a children’s book titled Little Big Bear; a humorous cookbook Deidre Hall’s Kitchen Close-Up; and How Does She Do It? A Beauty Book, a self-deprecating look at the life of an actress.
