Solar Impulse plane lands in Japan due to bad weather

TOKYO (AP) — A solar-powered plane attempting to circle the globe without a drop of fuel has made an unscheduled landing in Japan to wait out bad weather.

The Swiss pilot left Nanjing, China, on Sunday for Hawaii on what was to be the longest leg of the journey.

The plane safely landed Monday night at the Nagoya Airport in central Japan.

The journey started in March in Abu Dhabi, and the plane has stopped in Oman, India, Myanmar and China.
