Spain’s conservatives win election, boost seats: partial results

Madrid (AFP) – Spain’s ruling conservatives won a repeat general election on Sunday with 32.7 percent of the vote, ahead of the Socialists which came in second, with 90 percent of ballots counted.

The partial results gave acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy’s Popular Party 136 seats, 13 more than in the last election in December. The far-left Unidos Podemos coalition came in third with 71 seats in the 350-seat assembly.
