Sri Lanka bat first against Australia in first Test

Pallekele (Sri Lanka) (AFP) – Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the first Test in Pallekele on Tuesday.

All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva and left-arm wrist-spinner Lakshan Sandakan will make their debuts for the hosts having been named in the Sri Lanka side. 

Sri Lankan skipper Angelo Mathews also has two other spinners in his bowling attack in veteran left-armer Rangana Herath and off-spinner Dilruwan Perera.

Australia, who had already named their playing XI on the eve of the match, have left-arm spinner Steve O’Keeffe and off-spinner Nathan Lyon at their disposal.
