SEATTLE, Dec. 11 (UPI) — A start up company is offering couples the chance to be rewarded for their commitment, offering free loans towards a dream wedding for any couples willing to stay together for the rest of their lives.
SwanLuv, a start up based in Seattle, believes that “Everlasting marriage should be rewarded” offering couples a loan of $10,000 towards the wedding of their dreams. The loan is absolutely free for couples who remain married, but any couples who divorce are required to pay back the full loan with interest.
According to the company’s website loans are distributed on an applicant basis. Any couples looking to be married within two years are eligible to apply and applicants are chosen using an algorithm based on assessment of online data.
SwanLuv CEO Scott Avy told Geek Wire that the data found while selecting applicants also helps determine the rate of interest applied to the loan.
The funds gathered from couple’s whose relationships failed is then used to fund the weddings of new applicants.
“It comes back to statistics,” said Avy. “We’ll have the right odds so we’ll be ok. But they won’t be so crazy that no one wants to do it.”
In addition to the $10,000 loan SwanLuv also promises to provide free marriage counseling to help couples stay together.
The company is set to officially launch and begin distributing loans in mid-February, but is currently accepting applications.
Avy said that couples interested in signing up should take the time to evaluate their relationships.
“It really depends on where you are in your relationship,” he said. “I’m betting on my relationship I’ve established with my soulmate. It’s going to be a no-brainer for the ones it makes sense for.”
