NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (UPI) — Steely Dan co-founder Donald Fagen was charged with assault Tuesday for an incident with his wife, singer Libby Titus in their Manhattan home.
Fagen, 67, was charged with misdemeanor assault in the third degree and harassment. He was released without bail but a temporary order of protection was issued against him. Fagen and Titus were married in 1993.
The criminal complaint states the couple were in their Upper East Side home Monday night when Fagen grabbed Titus by the arms and shoved her onto the bottom of a marble window frame, causing some bruising and swelling. It is not known if Titus received medical attention, police said.
Neither Fagen’s lawyer nor representatives for Steely Dan commented on the incident.
The 1970s jazz-rock band Steely Dan had several major hits including “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Do It Again,” and “Peg.” They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. The band released its most recent album, Everything Must Go in 2003. Fagen released his most recent solo album Sunken Condos in 2012.
