NEW YORK, Nov. 14 (UPI) — Stephen Colbert closed out Friday’s edition of Late Show by offering his thoughts and prayers to those impacted by the evening’s terror attacks in Paris.
The chat program was taped in New York just as the awful events were unfolding in France. More than 100 people were killed in coordinated, Islamic State-led shootings and explosions at various locations in the French city.
“Folks, we end tonight’s show with a heavy heart because we taped all of tonight’s show and then we found out about the horrific attacks in Paris today,” Colbert said.
“I know that not much is known right now. We do know there have been many deaths and that the crisis is still ongoing,” he explained. “President Hollande has declared a state of emergency and President Obama has promised that the United States will do whatever it takes to bring those terrorists to justice. We add our thoughts and prayers to everyone in Paris.”
“And, now, we’ll see you on Monday,” Colbert said, pausing. “Good night.”
