Steve Aoki is being sued for allegedly breaking fan’s neck while crowd surfing

SAN DIEGO, May 19 (UPI) — Notorious for throwing cake in fans faces and crowd surfing in a pool raft, Steve Aoki is being sued for breaking a woman’s neck.

During a performance at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego in May 2012, Brittany Hickman claims that when the DJ jumped into the crowd with the raft, he broke her neck and ankle. Both Aoki and Hard Rock Hotel are being sued for the injuries.

“I was trapped underneath the pool raft because they threw it out right where I was standing. My friends told me he landed on top of the pool raft, hit me on top of the head and I got knocked over,” she told 10News. “Your life can be changed so much for someone’s reckless actions.”

A statement on the DJ’s behalf to Entertainment Weekly said: “I would never want anyone to get hurt at any of my shows and feel badly that someone has, but at this time I have been advised by my attorneys to not speak about this as it’s going to trial. Thank you for your understanding.”

His attorneys revealed that the lawsuit will go into trial on August 28, 2015.
