HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 10 (UPI) — Stunt performer Steve-O was arrested Sunday after scaling a crane in Hollywood to protest against SeaWorld.
The Jackass star, formally identified as Stephen Glover, announced the stunt protest Saturday, posting a picture on Instagram holding an inflatable whale with the caption “This is Shammy. We’re gonna do a big dangerous stunt tomorrow in Los Angeles that will probably get me in a lot of trouble, and you can watch it happen at 7pm PST via a live stream on my Facebook page.”

Fans were updated on the star’s Facebook page with pictures and video of the climb as Glover started to attract the attention of authorities. His last post before eventually climbing down asked his 9 million Facebook followers “Anyone wanna bail me out of jail?”

Glover hung his inflatable whale with an anti-SeaWorld message off the tip of the crane while also shooting off fireworks.
According to the Los Angeles Times, more than 80 firefighters and 30 police officers responded to the scene. Police told the paper that Steve-O is expected to be booked on suspicion of trespassing, setting a firework off without a permit, and conspiracy to commit a crime, though investigators are still determining what charges to apply.
Last year Glover was cited for defacing a San Diego freeway sign to say ‘SeaWorld Sucks.”
