HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 8 (UPI) — Stunt performer Steve-O has been sentenced to 30 days in LA County Jail stemming from his anti-Seaworld stunt back in August.

The Jackass star, formally identified as Stephen Glover, took to Instagram Wednesday to share his upbeat attitude regarding the sentence and how it can bring further attention to his cause.

“Considering I’ve become a clean and sober, dog-rescuing vegan, I must say I’m ready to go to jail- – not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it’s nice to let people know I haven’t lost my edge, Steve-O wrote. “What can I say, I’m a jackass.”

The photo showed a comic of Steve-O and an orca in jail having a cell-to-cell conversation.

“My whole crane-climbing, fireworks debacle really turned out to be pretty meaningful in the end, too. I mean, if your goal is to make a statement about captivity, you may as well get yourself locked up!,” he continued.

Steve-O’s protest involved the comedian scaling a sky-high crane while shooting fireworks and hanging an inflatable whale with anti-Seaworld message. Steve-O documented the climb on social media before climbing down at the request of police. He was later charged with five misdemeanors including creating a false emergency, trespassing, possessing and using fireworks without permit and conspiracy to commit a crime.

The 41-year-old also announced that next month he will begin taping a Showtime comedy special entitled, Steve-O: Guilty As Charged.
