Steve-O released early from 30-Day jail sentence

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) — Jackass star Steve-O has been released from jail early after serving less than eight hours of a 30-day sentence following his anti-SeaWorld stunt.

Steve-O, real name Stephen Glover, was sentenced back in October after he was charged with five misdemeanors including creating a false emergency, trespassing, possessing and using fireworks without permit, and conspiracy to commit a crime when he scaled a crane to protest SeaWorld.

“Considering I’ve become a clean and sober, dog-rescuing vegan, I must say I’m ready to go to jail- – not just because it will bring so much attention to the plight of orcas in captivity, but because it’s nice to let people know I haven’t lost my edge, Steve-O wrote when he was charged. “What can I say, I’m a jackass.”

On Wednesday, Steve-O shared a video of himself on Instagram performing a backflip before checking into the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.

“Here I am at jail. See ya when I see ya, folks! #yeahdude #SeaWorldSucks.”

On Thursday, the stunt performer posted a selfie with his pet dog on the photo sharing site declaring that he had been set free early. “After taking a hilarious mug shot, I wound up spending less than eight hours in jail,” he wrote. Thanks to all of the good people at Twin Towers Correctional Facility for making my stay a great one.”

Recently, the 41-year-old announced that he had taped an upcoming comedy special for Showtime entitled, Steve-O: Guilty As Charged.
