PAGE, Ariz., Oct. 30 (UPI) — An Arizona crash gave new meaning to the term “street pizza” when a semi truck spilled 22 tons of pizza dough and flour onto the roadway.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the truck bounced off a guardrail and rolled onto its side early Thursday on U.S. 89 outside Page.
The truck spilled its load of 44,500 pounds of pizza dough and flour onto the stretch of the roadway known as Jack’s Peak, authorities said.
Police said speed and fatigue may have contributed to the crash. The driver, who was not injured, was cited for failure to control the vehicle.
A DPS spokesman made no mention of any attempts to truck sauce and cheese to the scene.
