LOS ANGELES, March 20 (UPI) — Marion ‘Suge’ Knight collapsed in court after bail was set at $25 million in his hit-and-run case Friday.
The 49-year-old music producer fell to the ground unconscious after the judge announced the sum and was taken to a jail hospital ward, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Knight is accused of purposely running down Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan with his vehicle, and faces murder, attempted murder and two hit-and-run charges for the January incident, which left Carter dead.
The producer is also charged with robbery for allegedly stealing a camera from a photographer in October 2014. Deputy District Attorney Cynthia J. Barnes presented nearly 300 pages of arguments and evidence of other alleged crimes in an attempt to have bail set higher than $25 million.
Knight has reportedly been in poor health since being shot six times in August 2014, and was rushed from court to the hospital for the third time earlier this month. His attorney, Matthew Fletcher, plans to argue Knight is blind in one eye and was not able to clearly see Carter and Sloan.
