NEW YORK, Aug. 26 (UPI) — Taylor Swift will reportedly skip the upcoming 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

News outlets reported the 26-year-old singer will sit out this year’s ceremony due to her lack of nominations. The awards show will take place Aug. 28.

Swift, who last released 1989 in 2014, won five VMAs for the album in 2015. Her music videos for “Wildest Dreams,” “Out of the Woods” and “New Romantics” were eligible for nominations this year.

“Taylor was never scheduled to attend the VMAs,” a source told People magazine.

Kanye West, who has a fraught history with Swift, is up for two awards, Video of the Year and Best Male Video for “Famous.” Sources told TMZ the VMAs have allotted the rapper four minutes of stage time to do as he pleases.

Swift and West’s feud began in 2009 after the rapper interrupted Swift at the VMAs. The pair clashed again this year when West referenced the singer on “Famous,” rapping, “I think me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that [expletive] famous.”

West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, later claimed that Swift had approved the controversial lyric. Kardashian released a secretly-recorded phone call in July of Swift and West discussing the song.
