Teresa Giudice’s lawyer says she will emerge a different woman after prison

DANBURY, Conn., May 14 (UPI) — Teresa Giudice is working to better herself during her year-long stint in prison.

Giudice is currently half way through serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., after pleading guilty to fraud and other charges related to filing for bankruptcy in 2010.

Reports recently surfaced that The Real Housewives of New Jersey star is getting a divorce with husband, Joe. Her attorney, James J. Leonard, denies those rumors, and told People that headlines claiming the star has exhibited “diva behavior” while in prison are also untrue.

In an interview with E! News, Leonard revealed that the mother of four will be back home with her family by Christmas.

Leonard explained how the reality star is spending her time behind bars. “She’s taking care of her body, she’s taking care of her mind,” he said. “She’s making her family’s looked after. She’s reprioritizing things in her life.”

As far as Leonard is concerned, the new Giudice that leaves prison is “going to wow people,” he said.

Her first priority is getting back to her husband and children. She has not yet decided what her next step after serving time will be, but she has a few options.

“Being with her children, being with her family, being with Joe…and then kind of getting back into whatever she’s going to get back into,” the lawyer said. “If that’s television, if it’s different projects, if it’s getting involved with a restaurant, etc. — there are so many opporutnites that she has.”

After her release in December, she’ll be on house arrest until Feb. 5 or 6, followed by a period of probation.
