ROUND ROCK, Texas, Oct. 23 (UPI) — A Texas police department shared video of four “highly dangerous” escaped emus running around a residential neighborhood and eluding capture.
The Round Rock Police Department, which famously corralled a loose buffalo in April, said the emus escaped from a resident’s back yard Thursday afternoon and police and animal control officers unsuccessfully attempted to capture the large, flightless birds.
Police shared a short video of the fleeing birds on Instagram.
Lori Kessler, the emus’ owner, said three of the emus — dubbed Huey, Dewey and Louie — are only 6 months old, while the fourth, Emmitt, is an adult.
Kessler said she is hoping volunteers will help her recapture the birds.
“They’re impossible to catch. The only thing that we could do is try to herd them back. So if we can find them and I have like 10 people to help me herd them back home, then that’s the only thing that will work,” she told KVUE-TV.
