‘The Enfield Haunting’ miniseries to premiere next month on A&E

NEW YORK, Sept. 28 (UPI) — A&E says it will start airing the supernatural-themed miniseries The Enfield Haunting Oct. 9.

Starring Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson and Matthew Macfadyen, the three-part program is “a dramatization of the terrifying, real-life events that took place in a seemingly ordinary home in northern London during the fall of 1977,” press notes said.

Written by Joshua St. Johnston and directed by Kristoffer Nyholm, the miniseries is adapted from Guy Lyon Playfair’s book This House is Haunted. The cable television network said the program “draws on extensive documentation, recordings and witness statements recorded at the time.”

The incident involved alleged poltergeist activity and was the basis of horror films, including the upcoming The Conjuring 2.
