Roger Federer has taken the first set against Andy Murray in the Wimbledon semifinals.

The seven-time champion won the set 7-5 Friday on Centre Court.

Federer is 9-0 in Wimbledon semifinals, and beat Murray in the 2012 final at the All England Club. A few weeks later, however, Murray beat Federer in the Olympic final on the same court.

Novak Djokovic is in the Wimbledon final for the fourth time.

The defending champion beat Richard Gasquet 7-6 (2), 6-4, 6-4 Friday on Centre Court to make his way into the championship match at the All England Club for the third straight year.

Djokovic handled Gasquet’s fantastic backhand well enough to keep the 21st-seeded Frenchman from pulling off another upset. Gasquest eliminated fourth-seeded Stan Wawrinka in the previous round.

In Sunday’s final, Djokovic will face either Roger Federer or Andy Murray. They were to play later Friday on Centre Court.

Martina Hingis is back in a final at Wimbledon for the first time since 1998.

Hingis, a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and Sania Mirza are seeded No. 1 in doubles and won their semifinal against the fifth-seeded American pair of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears 6-1, 6-2 on Friday.

Hingis won the doubles title at the All England Club with Jana Novotna 17 years ago.

Novak Djokovic broke early again, and this time he didn’t let Richard Gasquet back into it.

The top-seeded Serb won the second set Friday and leads Gasquet 7-6 (2), 6-4 in the Wimbledon semifinals.

Djokovic, a two-time Wimbledon champion who won the title last year, broke Gasquet’s first service game in both sets so far, but the Frenchman broke back in the first set and pushed it to a tiebreaker.

During two changeovers in the second set, however, Djokovic received treatment on his left shoulder from a trainer.

Djokovic needs only one more set to reach the Wimbledon final for the fourth time.

Novak Djokovic has taken the first set, in a tiebreaker.

The defending champion wasn’t perfect, but he leads Richard Gasquet 7-6 (2) Friday in the Wimbledon semifinals.

Gasquet surprisingly beat Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals, and he’s doing well so far on Centre Court against Djokovic. The 21-set-seeded Frenchman was broken in his first service game, but bounced right back with a break of his own to get back on serve, using his devastating backhand to trouble the top-seeded Serb throughout the set.

Djokovic was too good in the tiebreaker, however.
