FOXBOROUGH, Mass., Aug. 18 (UPI) — New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is already banned from the first four games of the NFL season for his alleged involvement in football deflation.

Now he’s missing more time after he cut himself with scissors.

Brady was trying to “pry something from the bottom of his cleat” before his team took on the Chicago Bears Thursday night, according to CSN New England. He was expected to start the game.

Apparently, when he attempted the pry, he sliced into his right thumb with the scissors instead.

“An accident occurred and Tom will be okay in time,” Brady’s agent, Don Yee, told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Brady, 39, did not take a snap in the Patriots’ first preseason game against the New Orleans Saints.

Jimmy Garoppolo is the Patriots starting quarterback until Brady’s suspension is lifted for a week 5 contest against the Cleveland Browns. The four-time Super Bowl champion passed for 4,770 yards, 36 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2015.
