TOKYO, Oct. 21 (UPI) — Toyota announced Wednesday it is globally recalling 7.4 million vehicles that have a defective power window switch that could melt.
The recall affects Camry, Corolla, RAV4, Yaris and Aurion models built between 2006 and 2010. Other models include Highlander, Tundra, Sequoia and Scion xB built between 2005 and 2010.
The car maker said the recall is for faulty lubrication of the power window master switch on the driver’s armrest that might create extreme wear of internal parts and stop working or in some cases, overheat and melt.
Toyota says the recall is a precautionary measure and no accidents or injuries have been reported so far.
Owners will begin receiving recall notices for affected vehicles in mid-November, Toyota said.
Some Camry models were recalled this year over potential fuel leaks and the RAV4 over issues with loose suspension and instrument panel reinforcement.
