CLEVELAND, Aug. 10 (UPI) — While Tristan Thompson and LeBron James share an agent, they may not share a team for much longer.
Agent Rich Paul told the media Monday that Thompson wont come back to the Cleveland Cavaliers if he is forced to sign a one-year offer this season.
“If (Thompson) is on the qualifying offer, (this) will be his last year with the Cavs,” agent Rich Paul told ESPN.
Thompson, who was looking for about five years and $94 million, stopped talking with the team in July. James signed for one year and $23 million that same month. Thompson’s qualifying offer would be $6.8 million this season.
Thompson, 24, averaged 8.5 points and eight rebounds in the regular season. He averaged 9.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in the playoffs, including 4.4 offensive rebounds per game.
In May, James told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that: “Tristan’s a guy who should probably be a Cavalier his entire career”
