Tropical Storm Grace expected to fizzle on approach to Lesser Antilles

MIAMI, Sept. 7 (UPI) — Tropical Storm Grace is expected to fizzle out as it moves toward the Lesser Antilles in the coming days as it comes into contact with increasing wind shear and dry air.

The National Hurricane Center said the storm will start to weaken by midweek and possibly become a tropical wave by the time it reaches the Lesser Antilles. It is still some five days away from the islands, posing no threat to land currently.

The storm continues to move west at 17 mph with maximum sustained winds near 45 mph with higher gusts. Tropical storm winds extend some 60 miles from the center. The latest update from hurricane hunters shows it is becoming less organized.
