NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) — A musical version of the HBO hit vampire drama True Blood could be making its way to Broadway.

Rumors of a musical adaptation have been swirling for a while now, but sources are saying the first act has been written and a workshop has been held and things are starting to move along.

Nathan Barr, who composed the music for the show, is resuming his role for the musical being directed by Pam MacKinnon.

Also reportedly signed on to the project are actors Ellen Foley, Claybourne Elder, and Ann Harada, and Elizabeth Scott who is writing the book and the lyrics.

Show creator Alan Ball is also said to be involved as well.

The musical, like the show, will take place in the fictional town of Bon Temps, La., and will follow the story of the supernatural Sookie Stackhouse and her vampire cohorts.

True Blood ran for seven seasons on HBO and is still available on demand.
