KIELCE, Poland, Sept. 3 (UPI) — Turkish Aerospace Industries is to collaborate with four Polish companies in a bid to supply attack helicopters to the Polish military.
The memorandums of agreement , signed earlier this week at an international defense exhibition in Poland, are with WCBKT, WZL1, ITWL and MESKO.
“The MOUs cover bilateral cooperation between the companies in relation to introducing T129 ATAK Advanced Attack and Tactical Reconnaissance Helicopter to the Polish Armed Forces,” TAI said.
The T129 ATAK is a twin-engine aircraft is based on an AgustaWestland design. It has a cruise speed of 149 knots and a range of about 348 miles.
A fleet of T129s were recently delivered to the Turkish Army.
Poland’s KRUK, or Raven, helicopter competition is for the acquisition of more than 30 aircraft, which will replace its Soviet-era Mi-24 attack helicopters. As with another program for utility helicopters, the aircraft would be built in Poland.
