WASHINGTON, Nov. 18 (UPI) — Two Air France flights bound for Paris from the United States were diverted after bomb threats.
One was diverted to Salt Lake City International Airport about 45 minutes after leaving Los Angeles. A second flight out of Washington, D.C., was redirected to Halifax Stansfield International Airport in Nova Scotia because of a similiar bomb threat, Air France said.
Both threats were made by telephone, though it is unclear if they were made by the same person.
“Several law enforcement agencies are working … to determine the nature of the threats which caused the aircraft to divert,” FBI Special Agent Todd Palmer of the Salt Lake City division said.

The flight diverted to Salt Lake City had 497 passengers and crew aboard. Everyone was removed from the plane and went through customs as airport police and the FBI investigated the aircraft. It was grounded for about five hours until it departed at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday.
The second flight left Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C., with 262 aboard and was diverted to Halifax about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Passengers and crew went through Canadian customs and were put in hotels for the night. By 2 a.m., the Royal Canadian Mounted Police gave the aircraft the all-clear.
Searches of plane and luggage concluded. No explosive device found. Plane has been turned over to @HfxStanfield #AF055— RCMP, Nova Scotia (@RCMPNS) November 18, 2015
