Two television news workers killed in shooting during live broadcast

MONETA, Va., Aug. 26 (UPI) — A television news reporter and a videographer for WDBJ7 in Virginia were killed during a live broadcast Wednesday morning by a gunman.

Reporter Alison Parker, 24, and videographer Adam Ward, 27, both died during the live broadcast at about 6:45 a.m. on location at the Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Va.

Police officials from Franklin County, Bedford County and Virginia State Police responded to the scene. A search for the suspect is underway.

Bedford County Public Schools are on a perimeter lock-down until further notice.
